Channel One’s in-school TV show spent two minutes covering the death of and paying tribute to the comedic actor Chris Farley. It was considered a major story by Channel One on this Monday morning’s broadcast.
Jim Metrock, Obligation president, said, “This is typical Channel One. They don’t care if they waste a student’s time, as long as the commercials are aired and the students have to watch. As the Johns Hopkins study in 1997 pointed out, the show is basically filler between the commericals.”
“Channel One has three days of world events to pick from for their Monday show. Why have an excessively long piece on Mr. Farley?”
Channel One last year had a similarly long story about the shooting of Tupac Shakur, the gangsta rap star.
At the end of the show today, the two anchors reviewed the NFL football playoff results and previewed the upcoming playoff games. “For this to happen on taxpayer time is ridiculous. The gatekeepers are asleep and taxpayers and students are getting robbed,” Metrock said.
