State of Alabama Completes First Ever Statewide Channel One Survey

July 9, 1998

It has taken months to achieve, but now all Alabama public school systems have responded to the State Superintendent’s request for information concerning Channel One. This information will be published on this web site as soon as it is received by Obligation.

As many concerned parents and school officials have found out, Channel One will never tell the public what schools have contracted with them. Rarely, does a school system brag about its connection with Channel One – and for good reason. Nobody likes the criticism that goes with making a deal with this advertising company.

Obligation salutes Dr. Ed Richardson, Alabama State Superintendent, for finding out the names of Alabama schools that require the broadcasting of Channel One as a mandatory part of their school day. He has done our state a great service.

“Sunlight is the best disinfectant.” If Channel One can survive the sunlight of public scrutiny, then so be it. If it can’t, then good riddance.
