Channel One Steals Time From Schools

Alloy/Channel One robs schoolchildren of precious school time. How can that be repaid?

 

If Channel One News is being shown in a school, it is because there is a legal contract between the school or school district and Alloy Media and Marketing/Channel One.

Channel One wrote the contract. They should know what is in it and what are their responsibilities.

Channel One contractually promised schools that Channel One News would be 12 minutes in length and not a second more.

Yet this fall, Channel One News is taking an additional MINUTE of school time. On October 5, Channel One ran exactly 13 minutes. This is thievery.

Channel One is stealing time from school districts. Schools agreed to spend no more than 12 minutes a day watching Channel One’s lite news, feature stories, and commercials.

Stealing one little minute a day may not sound like much, but it adds up. Alloy/Channel One doesn’t think anybody will notice.

A 1,000-student middle school that is tricked into watching one more minute of Channel One each day will lose 3,000 student hours a year. (1,000 minutes a day x 180 school days in a school year)

This isn’t a petty amount. Alloy/Channel One is defrauding taxpayers in communities around the country.

It’s time for school districts to pull the plug on this dishonest bunch of kiddie marketers.

Remember, Alloy/Channel One News cannot be shown in any public school classroom in their home state. New York state has always outlawed Channel One’s TV show from their public school classrooms. Your community should outlaw these time-stealing marketers too.
