From Jim Metrock:
As I have said before, Channel One does NOT consider this pop quiz an advertisement. This feature is part of the “non-commercial” part of Channel One News. There are two commercial breaks that are each one minute long that usually contain four 30-second commercials. This “pop quiz” was not shown during a commercial break.
Channel One can have no more than 2 minutes of advertising in any daily 12-minute program. Calling an ad a non-ad allows them to earn more ad revenue per show while still maintaining the fiction that they are honoring the terms of their contracts with schools. Most shows exceed the 2-minute limit.
May 6, 2011 Children, today’s test will be about Kung Fu Panda 2. You better have paid attention.
