From Jim Metrock:
Absolutely nothing is as it seems with Channel One News. This campaign looks like a noble effort of getting faster Internet connections into schools. And it is, but they are primarily looking after their corporate interests and not the interests of students.
Channel One News used to be delivered via their old satellite dishes. Now it is coming into the remaining schools via the Internet. Slow Internet speeds will adversely affect their program and their advertising. Schools with slow Internet speeds might give up on showing Channel One News.
I think even if schools had 100 times faster Internet speeds, they would still opt to dump Channel One News.
