Houghton Mifflin OKs junk food and movie ads for middle school students.

Houghton Mifflin’s Linda Zecher allowed academic time to be used by a Hollywood movie studio. Ms. Zecher makes money; school kids lose precious learning time.

Think Channel One would improve under their new owner Houghton Mifflin?  It is still too early to make a firm judgment about the new Houghton Mifflin/Channel One entity, but it’s not looking good.

Houghton Mifflin has run four Sunny D junk drink ads since they  acquired Channel One News.  That’s a lot of high sugar advertising.  Does Houghton Mifflin not care about their reputation among educators? parents?  Do they no care about their brand?  Do they not care about promoting healthy living choices for children?  

Does Houghton Mifflin’s CEO Linda Zecher think she will have no pushback from airing up-coming movie trailers in American middle schools?
