This sends a message that this isn’t an advertisement and that Channel One News believes this is a great singer so they are plugging her during the “news” segment. Notice the Air Force is sponsoring this segment which shows how hyper-commercial Channel One News has become: one advertiser is sponsoring a segment to promote another advertiser – and this is all before the official commercial break that will feature two commercials.
