MONTGOMERY – Rep. Alvin Holmes, D-Montgomery, said today he won’t accept tickets to this year’s Iron Bowl game in Tuscaloosa, and wants them to go to wounded veterans.
Holmes, the longest serving member of the Legislature, said he wants his tickets and parking pass for the Alabama-Auburn game in Tuscaloosa to go two members of the military who were wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan.
In a letter to University of Alabama President Robert Witt, Holmes said he made his decision based on a 62 percent pay raise enacted by the last Legislature and the intent of both parties to pursue ethics reform in 2011.
