Was there no one at Channel One News during the 90’s that ever paused to consider that advertising candy, potato chips, and sugary soft drinks to kids could be detrimental to them?

Commercially exploiting schoolchildren is a terrible thing to do. Urging children to eat more junk food – as a childhood obesity crisis was raging – is beneath contempt.  Channel One executives and their on-air personalities made a killing off the obscene profits the company made during this time. Those profits were pumped up mainly by the junk food advertisers who couldn’t believe schools would allow them to bring their advertising before a captive audience of students.
