Channel One News continues to promote toxic Teen Vogue to preteens

June 13, 2017

From Jim Metrock:

Channel One News did a major promotion for Teen Vogue in the closing days of this past school year.

Many teens and preteens more than likely became subscribers or at least visitors to Teen Vogue’s website because of Channel One’s efforts.

I subscribed to Teen Vogue after Channel One News devoted nearly half of their daily, classroom show to plugging Teen Vogue.  I, like young people who signed up for Teen Vogue, receive numerous emails from the company.

These emails contain content that is age-inappropriate for most of Channel One’s audience.  I have reached out to Channel One News for an explanation for why they would advertise the hard edge sexual content of Teen Vogue to their audience.  The answer was a “non-answer.” Typical of Channel One.  They said there didn’t advertise Teen Vogue. Heaven forbid! All they did was do a story on Teen Vogue. All they did was allow the editor of Teen Vogue to be a guest host on the classroom TV show.  Ugh.

Here is a sample of the latest Teen Vogue’s email to children.

Who, you might ask, is Colton Haynes and why is it important for young people to know he lost his virginity to a girl AND a boy when he was 13?  I looked him up and he is important to Teen Vogue because he was a Teen Vogue model years ago.  This is the power of Teen Vogue and Channel One News: They can make anybody important in young people’s lives.

Do you want your children following the cultural rot of Teen Vogue and Channel One News?  The first step is to make sure Channel One News is turned off for good at your middle and high schools over the summer.  Summer is the time when schools normally remove Channel One, so please contact your district superintendent and principal.

As of June 13, 2017 Channel One News is still featuring their long form advertisement for Teen Vogue on Channel One’s Facebook page.  Luckily, few young people visit Channel One’s Facebook page. After three weeks only 6 people “like” Channel One’s Teen Vogue promo video. (1 person was “angry” about it. Good for that person.)

Although Channel One News says there is no partnership with Teen Vogue, that is certainly what it looks like.

Who is ultimately responsible for the terrible decisions being made at Channel One News?  A man named John “Jack J. Lynch, Jr.  Jack Lynch in Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director. HMH is Channel One’s parent company. Mr. Lynch is where the buck stops.  Former head of Channel One, CJ Kettler, appears to have disappeared.  She is no longer mentioned on Houghton Mifflin’s executive leadership page.
