It has been this way since its inception. Few parents understand the waste of time that goes on when Channel One’s TV show is blaring away in the classroom.
When you multiple the wasted minutes of this report by the millions of children that are contractually obligated to watch this program so they can keep their TV sets, the cost is astronomical. Who will give this time back to the children?
Who will speak for the children and for the taxpayer that is getting fleeced? If you are a parent readying this and you have done nothing about getting Channel One out of your child’s school, then maybe this is the time for you to stand up for your child and all the children in your community. If you are a teacher that has had to put up with this nonsense for years, then why not make it your responsibility to remove this distraction from your classroom.
If you are a student that wants to change your school for the better, then get other students together and ask your principal to remove Channel One. Taking this action would look great on a college application. Organizing fellow students and teachers to stand up to a giant corporate predator like Primedia’s Channel One would send a signal to any college that you are a leader and that you have the integrity they are looking for.
