Where are they now?: Channel One’s Kent Haehl selling pot

November 6, 2025

Kent Haehl was Mr. Channel One News. He presided over the company for six years from 2007 to 2013.

He tried to keep Channel One afloat, but it became a smaller and much less-respected company under his leadership.

Now, Kent Haehl is making money selling… er… cannabis. He’s one smooth operator. He knows what people want and his mission is to make money delivering the goods.

When it came to advertising junk food to a captive audience of schoolchildren, there were no equals to Kent Haehl. He worked a long time at Channel One News, not as a journalist, but as an ad man. First he was a VP of Sales from December 2000 to August 2005. He came back as the CEO and served from August 2007 to August 2013.

He appeared to have no qualms about approving ad after ad for junk food for kids in the middle of an obesity crisis.

Kent Haehl’s junk food crusade against America’s children:

August 28, 2007 – Get Stokd
September 12, 2007 – Gatorade and McDonald’s
November 5, 2007 – A look back at Haehl approving ads for Pepsi, Twinkies and Hostess Cupcakes
