It is difficult to imagine a company that makes more bad decisions than Channel One News.
On April 21, Channel One did something that many have urged them not to do. They ran a story about the anniversary of the Columbine shootings. Was it absolutely necessary to put the Columbine tragedy into schoolchildren’s faces AGAIN?
The producer of that day’s show included the above picture for the captive audience of students, age 10 to 18. Why show these murdering monsters holding their guns as they go about the business of massacring their fellow students?
But that isn’t all. In their infinite wisdom, Channel One News sold one of their news anchor positions that day to Paramount Studios. Actress Lindsay Lohan co-anchors the show so she can plug the April 30 premiere of “Mean Girls.” On the day they run a Columbine Anniversary story, Channel One News promotes a “funny” movie about high school bullying, backstabbing and revenge.
Was this suppose to be some kind of sick joke? Does this make Morgan Wandell and Jim Ritts chuckle?
Wasn’t there anybody at Channel One that had reservations about the content of that day’s program?
Very possibly, all the people that possessed some common sense are now gone from this company.
End of April 21, 2004 show:
