From Jim Metrock:
Claxton Middle School in Claxton, GA is a “Channel One school.”
It’s probably a typical “Channel One school” in that it cheats. Isn’t it awful when a school cheats?
Here’s how they cheat:
Claxton is suppose to show the 12-minute Channel One News in its entirety. Yet they only allow eight minutes for the program and whatever else is done in homeroom. Who knows they might air Channel One for 1 minute.
Channel One loaned this school a TV network in exchange for a contractual commitment by Claxton and the Evans County School District to show Channel One News in its entirety on at least 90% of school days. Why is Claxton Middle School so brazen in its breach of Channel One’s contract?
Because they know no one at Channel One will complain. Channel One is so desperate for any student to watch their show and ads that they’ll allow Claxton and so many other schools to do “whatever.”
How can a school that cheats have the nerve to discipline a student that cheats? Claxton Middle School shouldn’t be cheating Channel One. Cheating is never good. This school, this school district, should simply end the contract. That would be the ethical thing to do.
