From Jim Metrock:
At the end of January, Channel One News dropped their ending voice-over and graphic proclaiming the program was “Powered by Promethean.”
The significance of the change is unclear.
It was never clear what “powered” meant in the context it was used. A few schools used their Promethean white boards to show Channel One News, but most schools only agreed to a Channel One contract to get the loan of Channel One’s analog TV sets. If a school had enough money for Promethean’s pricey white boards, one would assume they wouldn’t waste school time continuing with showing Channel One’s hyper-commercial TV show.
Promethean and Channel One did try to push Channel One’s programming into a few elementary schools, but from all the evidence I am aware of, Channel One News InterActiv Jr. is a non-starter.
Did Promethean tell Channel One to take their name off the show? Both companies are struggling in the educational market place. Schools don’t want to spend the money on Promethean boards and related hand-held devices when iPads and other tablets are becoming more appealing to schools. Schools likewise don’t want to waste precious school time with Channel One if they don’t have to. School administrators are coming under fire for allowing students to watch commercials for violent horror movies and “Nearly Naked Makeup” to name just two things advertised on Channel One.
Unfortunately for Promethean it won’t be easy to wash off the stink of their close partnership with the controversial Channel One.

Channel One’s Kent Haehl would hate to see Promethean pull out completely.
