March 13, 2014: This and other videos were removed after Channel One complained to YouTube. Obligation’s YouTube account was terminated by Channel One’s actions. Channel One will do about anything to prevent the public from seeing what it is showing schoolchildren.
This is taken from the November 1, 2010 middle school showing of Channel One News.Note: Before the pot story students waste valuable school time watching a “Play of the Week.” This is part of a plug for an ESPN website. After that there is a commercial for the daily musician the students are forced to hear six! times during each show. Then you’ll see a reflection of my video camera for a second. I filmed this segment as it played on my computer screen. You see the reflection because Channel One censors the two one-minute commercial blocks . Channel One has been censoring these commercials from their webcast for the last three years. All parents can see is black (and in this case, my camera).
This report normalizes drug usage. The overwhelming message in this story: marijuana is OK, what’s the big fuss? Hard drugs are all you need to worry about, kids. Yes, the story has some negative comments about marijuana, but they are more than outweighed by the pro-legalization comments.
Hey, look a university is helping people grow marijuana. Why did my parents ever tell me pot’s a bad thing? The producer and reporter fail to tell students – some as young as ten – that this is not a regular university. http://www.oaksterdamuniversity.com The reporter Jessica Kumari intentionally misleads middle school students by simply mentioning the name of the university as if it is just like a traditional state university.
Channel One News didn’t have to cover this story at all. Why in the world was this the biggest story on November 1, 2010? Why show this to any student, much less, any middle school student?
Unfortunately Channel One News continues to show the same daily programming to the youngest middle school students as they do high school seniors. One might argue this slanted report might be OK for 17-year-old students, but 12-year-olds?
Channel One didn’t even warn teachers that the program would contain many close up clips of the drug and even show kids how to roll up a marijuana cigarette. Should parents have been given a head’s up on this?
If it wasn’t bad enough, at the end of the report the other reporter Justin Finch punches students hard in the stomach by making sure they know of a new study that shows half of the public (their parents) are in favor of legalizing this drug. Thanks, Justin. What a demoralizing way for young people to start their day.
And to think, some schools force their students to watch this cultural rot.
We’ll have a total deconstruction of this video soon.
Parents and teachers, please distribute the link to this video widely. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7X6eYWHXAEs If you need one more reason to demand your school end Channel One News, here you are.

[JESSICA]
TOMORROW, CALIFORNIA VOTERS ARE DOING MORE THAN CHOOSING WHICH CANDIDATES WILL WIN SOME HOTLY-CONTESTED OFFICES.
THEY’LL ALSO BE WEIGHING IN ON A CONTROVERSIAL DRUG POLICY CALLED PROP 19.
JESSICA KUMARI TELLS US ALL ABOUT IT.
[JESSICA]
CARAMEL CORN, COTTON CANDY AND GREEN TEA ARE ALL ON THE MENU.
BUT THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL MOM AND POP SHOP
we have a diversity of strains.
we have drink mixes, cakes and so there’s a multiplicity of ways to use marijuana for medical treatment
MEDITHRIVE IS A MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARY. YOU CAN EAT IT OR SMOKE IT.ALL YOU NEED IS A DOCTOR’S RECOMMENDATION TO BUY IT
this is a civil rights issue – people have the right to choose their medicine
THIS IS OAKSTERDAM UNIVERSITY IN CALIFORNIA
THE FIRST COLLEGE IN THE U-S DESIGNED TO TEACH STUDENTS HOW TO GROW SELL AND COOK MARIJUANA
IN OTHER STATES YOU COULD BE ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF POT.BUT NOT IN THE STATE THAT’S ALSO HOME TO THE NATION’S FIRST SCHOOL DEVOTED ENTIRELY TO TEACHING HOW TO GROW, SELL AND COOK CANNABIS – OAKSTERDAM UNIVERSITY
OPENING A SHOP FULL OF CANDIED CANNABIS IS 20 YEAR OLD (Name removed by request) ‘S DREAM.
so why did you decide this is where you want to go?
(Name removed by request): i really like wnat to learn how to grow it – i think it’s going to become a legal source of income sometime soon.
SOON– AS IN TOMORROW. THAT’S WHEN CALIFORNIA VOTERS HEAD TO THE POLLS TO VOTE ON PROPOSITION 19 — WHICH WOULD LEGALIZE MARIJUANA
so what exacty is on the ballot? prop 19 would make it legal for people 21 and older to carry up to an ounce of marijuana without being punished or fined. it’d also allow people to grow the plant…and local governments to sell it and set their own fees and taxes
THOSE PUSHING FOR PROP 19 SAY IT COULD HELP CALIFORNIA GET OUT OF ITS CURRENT BUDGET HOLE. THAT’S BECAUSE IF MARIJUANA IS SOLD LEGALLY, THE GOVERNMENT COULD CHARGES TAXES ON IT LIKE THEY DO WITH ALCOHOL OR CIGARETTES AND IT COULD GENERATE MILLIONS, some say billions.
BUT THOSE AGAINST 19 ARGUE IT WOULD ACTUALLY COST CALIFORNIA MONEY BECAUSE THE STATE COULD LOSE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BECAUSE IT WOULD BE VIOLATING FEDERAL LAW. THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION HAS SAID IT WILL GO AFTER PEOPLE SELLING MARIJUANA EVEN IF THE STATE LEGALIZES IT.
AND. OPPONENTS SAY LEGALIZING POT WOULD ENCOURAGE MORE YOUNG PEOPLE TO GET INVOLVED WITH HARDER DRUGS.
as someone who started smoking pot at the age of 12 – why are you against it? what’s your number one concern if california legalizes marijuana?
my number one concern is a bunch of me’s running around
TONY SAYS SMOKING POT LEAD HIM TO TRY HARDER MORE DANGEROUS DRUGS
that opened up a whole new world and introduced me to shady individuals –
And then they introduced me to other things like little more brutal hallucinogenic drugs and alcohol as well
i stopped being the nice young tony rose that i used to be and started being a drug dealer who was always on defense always thinking next person always going to rob me.
BUT SALWA IBRAHIM THINKS STORIES LIKE TONY’S ARE THE REASON WHY MARIJUANA SHOULD BE LEGALIZED.
i think prohibition causes that gateway effect, for people who want to use it for recreational uses, go to their drug dealer, odds are their drug dealer has other substances that they’re going to try to press upon you so they make the sale –
AND THIS OAKSERTAM UNIVERSITY GRADUATE BELIEVES MAKING MARIJUANA LEGAL WILL MAKE IT HARDER FOR THOSE UNDER 21 TO GET THEIR HANDS ON THE DRUG.
stats show most hs students say it’s easier for them to get marijuana than alcohol and we have to see why that is.i believe it’s because it’s in an unregulated market – like i mentioned before – your drug dealer is not carding
SUPPORTERS ALSO SAY IT WOULD WEAKEN THE VIOLENT MEXICAN DRUG GANGS BECAUSE PEOPLE COULD BUY IT LEGALLY FROM STORES RATHER THAN FROM GANGS. THEN POLICE WOULD HAVE MORE TIME AND MONEY TO GO AFTER THE HARDER DRUG DEALERS.
ALREADY -CALIFORNIA’S LAWS ABOUT POT ARE CONSIDERED THE MOST LIBERAL IN THE NATION… there are hundreds of stores like this one that sell marijuana to people with a doctor’s recommendation
buying and selling MEDICAL marijuana is illegal under federal law but legal according to California law…that’s because fourteen years ago, voters approved the use of medical marijuana.
NOW 13 OTHER STATES ALSO ALLOW THE USE OF MARIJUANA FOR MEDICAL PURPOSES – AND CALIFORNIA RECENTLY LOOSENED THE PENALTIES WHEN IT COMES TO RECREATIONAL USE
this is one ounce of marijuana .because of a recent bill having this much will land you with no more than a 100 dollar fine. that’s about the same amount you pay for a speeding ticket
SO WHETHER PROP 19 ALLOWS PEOPLE TO SMOKE.OR IT GOES UP IN SMOKE.ONE THING IS FOR SURE.WHATEVER HAPPENS IN CALIFORNIA IS SURE TO AFFECT OTHER PARTS OF THE NATION.
things that happen in california take to evolve in the rest of the country .the decisions made in california will soon be adopted in other parts of the country
