Channel One promoted-Teen Vogue normalizes teen drinking.

July 25, 2017

From Jim Metrock:

Channel One News continues to help promote Teen Vogue to its youthful audience.  Go to Channel One’s Facebook page to see a video promo of Teen Vogue. When young people get a subscription to Teen Vogue (and that’s what Channel One and, of course, Teen Vogue wants), the magazine sends the youthful subscriber daily emails.

These Teen Vogue emails are usually disturbing.

Today’s Teen Vogue email to teens and preteens had this teaser preview for an article about a new drink at Starbucks. Why would Teen Vogue assume its audience knows how a particular alcoholic drink tastes?  This may seem a small point, but it underscores that Teen Vogue and most definitely Channel One News have a distorted perception about young people.

Channel One has a history of advertising movies that normalize and glamorize teen drug use and drinking. (For one example, click here. For many more type “teen drinking” or “drugs” in our search engine.)

Here’s some news for Channel One News and Teen Vogue: Being a teen doesn’t mean using drugs and drinking alcohol.
